Passing the Baton to the Future Through Questions: Creating Ideas for a New Project

03 Jun 2026

On May 30, the third-year senior high school students officially began their HIS Project, an inquiry-based learning program.

During the first and second periods, students took part in a special lecture to learn from a role model. We welcomed Ms. Nao Mihara from Smile Baton Co., Ltd. as the guest speaker. Under the theme of “Creating Society Starting from Thoughts, Wishes, and Questions,” students learned how everyday questions such as “Why is this?” can be transformed into new value.

It was a meaningful and inspiring session that greatly stimulated the intellectual curiosity of our senior students.

During the third and fourth periods, students moved on to practical group work, using the perspectives they had gained from the lecture. They considered the question, “What can we leave behind for our younger schoolmates?”

Each student expressed their own wishes and questions using sticky notes, and the groups actively shared and developed their ideas. By combining what they personally wanted to do with the needs of others, the students engaged in serious and lively discussions. Their attitude showed the confidence and maturity expected of the oldest students in the school.

Throughout the lesson, many unique and thoughtful project ideas were born, each filled with care and aimed at further enriching the school’s family-like culture.

We look forward to seeing what kind of gifts for the future the students will create through their own hands. Please stay tuned for future inquiry learning reports.
